" I need to know, what kind of health effects will my children

The Hon. Bill Barisoff
Minister, Water, Land and Air Protection
PO Box 9047, Stn. Prov Govt.
Victoria, BC V8K 9E2
Dear Mr. Barisoff:
I attended the Crofton Public Meeting held on January 20th regarding Norske’s Alternative Fuels Trial.
At this meeting I learned that the regular fallout occurrences contain
sodium chloride as well as of dioxins from burning salt in the power
boilers. I see this fallout on my vehicle in the morning and have
also noticed it covering my shrubs in the garden over the 4 years I
have lived here.
I need to know, what kind of health effects will my children (ages 2
and 5) experience in the long term from playing in the grass and eating
fruits and vegetables from our garden all their lives? Have there
been any soil samples done in Crofton to determine how contaminated the
soil is from the continual fallout containing dioxins? When our
water supply was the local Crofton Lake supply, was the water
tested for contaminants from the fallout before we drank it? Are
the food producing farms in the area contaminated as well?
There are other parents in Crofton who also want answers to these
questions. Many of whom are extremely concerned and preparing to
sell their homes, as my family has just done.
We are very anxious and await your response to our questions.
Regards,
Tammy Morris
