NORSKE'S CROFTON MILL SHOWS LARGEST INCREASE IN POLLUTION IN CANADA                              
(Crofton, BC) In a report issued by the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), Norske’s Crofton Mill has shown the single largest increase in pollution release in the entire country . The report is based on data provided to the National Pollution Release Inventory by the company itself for the years 1995-2002.

NORSKE CROFTON STUDY CONFIRMED AS INADEQUATE TO MEASURE HEALTH RISK

(Crofton, BC) –  Debating scientists at the Norske Community Advisory Forum struck accord on one thing - the NorskeCanada study on air quality and health risks was not a baseline health risk assessment.
    Representatives for Norske consultant, Jacques Whitford, told the forum that it was never intended to be a baseline health risk assessment – despite the title of the report “Baseline Air Quality Modelling and Human Health Risk Assessment of Current Day Emissions from NorskeCanada Crofton Division”.

April 21, 2005
On April 21, at the Crofton Community Hall, the Crofton Airshed Citizens Group and Reach for Unbleached, with a team of international experts, presented new information on emissions and health impacts from the Crofton Mill. This international peer review team looked at the Jacques Whitford report commissioned by the NorskeCanada Crofton mill, and found it to be lacking in clarity, key baseline information, and credibility.

Alternative Fuels Proposal is Dead


There will be no burning of tires, ties, or coal at Crofton!!!

The Alternate Fuels Trial Proposal has officially been withdrawn, Crofton Mill Manager V.P. Don McKendrick announced at Tuesday's Community Advisory Forum held in Crofton Tuesday February 8th, citing earlier public outcry and reduced economic benefit - seems due to proficient management these old mills are turning a profit and won't go broke after all. Hurray!
